The home secretary said there would be a complete lockdown across the state on Thursday and Saturday this week. Nabanna has decided to impose a complete lockdown across the state on Wednesday next week.


Everything, including transportation and offices, will be covered. The chief secretary said the lockdown would continue across the state on a certain day of the week at a high-level meeting every Monday. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself will be present at the meeting. In addition, the ongoing lockdown in the containment zones will continue as before.



Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a high-level meeting in Navanne on the situation in the state. The meeting was attended by senior officials like Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DG of State Police, ADG (Law and Order), Commissioner of Police, Kolkata.


The meeting discussed in detail the report of the health department on the situation in the state. In view of the situation that has arisen, for the time being till July 29, the decision to lockdown strictly one or two days a week across the state was taken at this day's meeting.



Another 2,026 people were infected in the state last Sunday, a record. As a result, the total number of infected people increased to 42,046. Of these, 18,492 are infected with active COVID-19.



Meanwhile, 36 more people were killed in the state, breaking all previous records. As a result, a total of 1,112 people have died in the state so far.
