The chief secretary said the lockdown would continue across the state on a certain day of the week at a high-level meeting every Monday. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself will be present at the meeting. In addition, the ongoing lockdown in the containment zones will continue as before.

Another 2,026 people were infected in the state last Sunday, a record. As a result, the total number of infected people increased to 42,046. Of these, 18,492 are infected with active COVID-19.

Meanwhile, 36 more people were killed in the state, breaking all previous records. As a result, a total of 1,112 people have died in the state so far.
